About IYWCoE

Yoga is recognised as the subject of prime importance in the field of Health and wellness with its educational significance worldwide. The Government of India is currently promoting indigenous systems of health including Yoga in a strong manner through the Ministry of AYUSH.

Yoga has been a part of INDUS UNIVERSITY since its inception and now, in 2020, the Indus Yoga and Wellness Centre of Excellence has initiated into promoting health in a holistic manner with a scientific research based approach through collaboration with International Alliance of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) India Foundation. All students of the constituent colleges of INDUS UNIVERSITY are exposed to the Yoga training and numerous courses are offered in the field of Yoga and Wellness from certificate to M.Sc. level.

IYWCoE and IAYT India Foundation is aiming to provide wellness experts at the local Health and Wellness Centres of the National Health Mission (NHM).

Activities of the Department

Ayurveda Faculty Training Program

The Centre for Indic Studies at Indus University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education's IKYAS Department and the University Grants Commission, organized a six-day Ayurveda Faculty Training Program from June 20th. Dr. P. Rammanohar was the chief trainer. The event was inaugurated by university dignitaries and featured sessions on health through cultural practices, domestic health, mental and spiritual health, and self-assessment. The final day focused on healthy lifestyles, diets, herbal remedies, and creating health charts. The program concluded with a closing ceremony where participants were honored, followed by the singing of "Vande Mataram."


Workshop on Paninian Algorithm and Information Model

The Centre for Indic Studies at Indus University, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, hosted a three-day workshop from June 17th to 19th, 2024, focused on the Paninian Algorithm and Information Model. The event featured speakers Dr. Shridhar Subbanna and Dr. Srinidhi, who discussed the application of Sanskrit in computational algorithms. Over 50 university professors attended, exploring the semantic and syntactic dimensions of Sanskrit based on Panini’s ‘Ashtadhyayi’. The workshop highlighted the efficiency of Sanskrit for computational purposes and its potential in algorithmic contexts, with discussions on practical applications and the need for standardized language mechanisms. The Centre for Indic Studies emphasized its commitment to promoting educational and transformative research based on Indic knowledge systems.


Training & Awareness Program on First Aid & Basic Life Support

‘Healthcare is vital to all of us some of the time, but public health is vital to all of us all the time.’ With this noble intention, Indus University organized Training & Awareness Program on First Aid & Basic Life Support for Teaching/Non-Teaching Staff Members, organized by Mechanical Engineering & Clinical Research Departments in association with K.D. Hospital, Ahmedabad, under Extension Education Cell of the university on 30th October 2021.
