Indus University with major focus on technical and management education, training and research owes its existence to Bhandari Charitable Trust.
IFTARC – Indus Foundry Training and Research Centre is a Metallurgical Skill Development & Research Centre of Indus University driven by Electrotherm India Limited and supported by The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (A Government of Gujarat Organization) under the Specialized Skill Development Scheme of Gujarat Industrial Policy 2009.
There is acute shortage of trained workers on one side and increasing number of unemployed youth on the other. The production foundries are in search of manpower with moderate level skills, if not exceptional. Still, the unemployment rate is high as production is in need of experts; but is unable to provide ultimate level skills and thus low remuneration. Also, due to poor salary people are not attracted easily to the laborious foundry floor jobs.
Looking at the scenario, Foundry Training Centre (IFTARC) has been found to cement the breach amid both and make career in foundry more rewarding to the aspirants.
IFTARC’s vision is to form an advanced research center, to address the existing technological and engineering based challenges faced by foundries in India.
Students of various disciplines like Metallurgy / Automobile / Mechanical & Production undergoing engineering courses during graduation will benefit from this centre.
Students pursuing Master of Technology as well as Ph.D. scholars while working on a project shall have support of this Centre.
It will help faculty members in carrying out consultancy projects.
Operators / Technicians / Skilled & unskilled workers in the industries too can avail from this Centre.
ITI / BSc / 12th Technical / Diploma in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Automobile – it’s useful here too.
Educate, train and impart research oriented inputs to engineering crowd for foundry related activities.
Make career development in foundry a gainful and enjoyable experience to resources.
