The International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June at the University campus to usher in peace, harmony, happiness and success to every soul in the world. Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day, this was a great opportunity to imbibe the value of this discipline. The session was attended by a limited number of faculty and staff with the Vice Chancellor leading from the front. The students unfortunately could not join the event as they were away on vacation. Most of the faculty were on vacation too.

On the day of the event, morning shower did not hamper the spirit of the yoga enthusiasts.

Yoga Instructor: Mr Kiran Rajgor, a Yoga instructor with 15 years of experience as instructor at Bhartiya Yog Sanstha, was approached for conducting the session on the International Yoga Day. He consented and agreed to conduct the session for the Indus family. Mr Kiran conducts session on Yoga on regular basis for various organisations. He is also a visiting faculty at YMCA, Ahmedabad.

Event. On the day of the event, the faculty members assembled at the auditorium. All participants were welcomed by Director, Student affairs; the proceedings were then handed over to the Yoga Instructor.

The Instructor started the session with a prayer and explained how yoga embodies unity of mind and body. The participants thereafter performed various Yoga asans between 0730 hrs to 0840 hrs. All yoga asans were introduced/ explained before being performed. Finally, the session ended with meditation and prayer.

The participants benefited from the session and expressed their heartfelt thanks to Mr Kiran Rajgor for conducting the session on the occasion of International Yoga Day. The college is further planning to make yoga a regular affair for all faculty and students in the forthcoming academic session starting in July 2017.
