About the Department
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, IITE was established in the year 2006.
Mechanical Engineering is an evergreen and ever flourishing field. It is said so because the demand for a mechanical engineer is in every Industry. Mechanical engineers are responsible for tasks such as design and fabrication of different types of components like shafts, springs, gears, power screws, IC engines parts, ropes, pulleys etc. subjected to different loading conditions /machines/mechanical systems like material handling equipment, refrigerators, air-conditions etc., various means of generating power like conventional and non-conventional approaches and lot more related to machines. The whole programme is designed to make students reach their overall development, ultimately making students capable of contributing to their family and society .
The department organisation is mainly divided into 3 parts:
1) Thermal Engineering
2) Design Engineering
3) Production and Industrial Engineering
As a mechanical engineering student, one can expect to master concepts and applications in the field of mechanical design, thermal engineering and production technology and process skills to manufacture/produce/fabrication of different types of structural/mechanical components/systems. Also, mechanical engineering student will acquire the capability to comprehend the technological advancements in the usage of modern design tools to analyze and design subsystems/processes for variety of applications.
Indus Mechanical Engineer’s Association (IMEA) a student Association in the department organizes various types of co-curricular activities like workshops, webinars, certificate courses on skill development, seminars, expert lectures, conferences, technical quiz, robotics competition, drone workshop, hands on practice on welding and NC-CNC technology etc. on recent trends and development of the world, to provide exposure to students which enables them to choose their area of research.
Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) will admit students on the basis of merit on 50% of the sanctioned strength for each course. Student needs to register himself with ACPC after the result.
50% seats of the sanctioned strength of each course is Management Quota, admission of which is handled by the institute as per guidelines of ACPC
Minimum Aggregate 45% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, Theory exam in H.S.C.
Students must have appeared in GUJCET exam.(Gujarat Common Entrance Test).
