Government of Gujarat (GoGuj) instituted three Vishwakarma Merit Medal Awards for the exceptionally brilliant students of Gujarat State in the area of Engineering and Technology primarily in the disciplines of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering for securing highest marks.

The Vishwakarma Merit Medal Award for the year 2019 in the discipline of Electrical Engineering has been given to Saiyed Mohammed Abbas Jafarabbas (IU1541060040) a student of Indus University- Institute of Technology and Engineering Ahmedabad by Honorable Education Minister, Government of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrasinh Ji Chudasma on 1st December 2019 at Ahmedabad.

The other dignitaries present on the occasion were President- Institution of Engineers India Er Nagendra Singh, Council Member- World Federation of Engineering Organization (WFEO) Er Navinchandra Vasoya, Secretary-Water Resources and Narmada Dept, Government of Gujarat Er M K Jadhav, Secretary- Road and Building Dept, Government of Gujarat Er S B Vasava, Additional Secretaries and Chief Engineers in Government of Gujarat Er H U Kalyani, Er M P Raval, Er S K Patel gave away the award.  

Indus University – Institute of Technology and Engineering was represented by Director-ITE Prof Dr-Ing Anupam K Singh, Head- Electrical Engineering Dr Jaydeep Chakravorty, Head- Mechanical Engineering Dr Umang Patdiwala, Head- Civil Engineering Mr Harsh Soni along with several faculty and students from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering.
