for PG/UG Students

12 March 2020

The Department of Languages under ISHLS conducted a One-Day Workshop for the under-graduate and post-graduate students of MSc. Chemistry, Physics & Clinical Research on 12th March’20 with an aim to enhance and enrich their employability skills and life skills. The workshop was designed catering to the needs of the current job market scenario. It was divided into three sessions and each session was made interactive through activity based learning.  The first session was titled as ‘Ace the Interview: Preparation for Interview and Presentation in Interview’ conducted by Prof. Aashna Shah. In this session students were guided regarding preparation for interview and how they are going to present themselves during the process of interview.

The second session was conducted by Prof. Mamta Pillai on ‘Pitch Anything & Everything (Voice Training)’ in which students were given glimpses of prosodic features in speech and how the voice can be trained through consistent practice. The session was interesting and insightful as they were introduced to voice modulation and voice training through videos and worksheets. The third session was ‘Learn the Charm of Persuasive Speaking’ conducted by Prof. Pranjal Bhatt which aimed at developing coherence in speech through theoretical background.  The feedback received form the students at the end of the workshop was highly positive. The major reason behind the success of this workshop was its activity-based learning approach which led to maximum participation.
