Navaratri marks the beginning of the festive season in India and Indus University kick-started its Dandiya-2012 on 16th October, Tuesday to celebrate this season of festival. Dandiya-2012 began with the Sarpanch of the Rancharda performing ‘Aarti’ and invoking the blessings of the God. Indus University graciously welcomed the festival of nine nights as prayers rang through the air and the night became a celebration of joy.

Indus Campus came alive with Garba programme & Dandiya-Raas marked with glitter, shimmer & fun. Students and faculties swayed to the Garba and Dandiya tunes whilst dressed in traditional attire. The festivities were doubled through the Food stalls installed by the canteen of the University. The menu included savory eatables, relished to the hilt.

The atmosphere in the campus was fully charged with Music, Dance & Festive Spirit. The verve of Navaratri even encouraged the non-enthusiasts to pick-up Dandiya sticks and dance all throughout the programme. DJ Luv, final year student of Indus University, set the mood with mellifluous numbers. It became a platform for cultural synthesis as the fusion in music and participants led to a variety of Gujarati dance forms. There was a lot of interest among non-Gujarati employees of the University to learn advanced Garba steps. All the faculties, including senior officials joined in the celebration with their family members. In all total 20 prizes in different categories were awarded to the participants.

Active participation was seen from all the departments of the university to make the event a successful one. MBA Department set up three stalls which offered Jewellery and Tattoos through two stalls, whereas the third stall was dedicated to offering Locker facility for the revelers.

Radio Mirchi also helped in making Dandiya-2012 a winning event and as they conducted their Fresh Face competition at the Garba Venue. The main sponsors of the event were Kissan Jewellers, Kalistha Beauty Salon, and Steelz “all men”.

Colour, Music & Traditional Dance suffused the campus, making it a fun-filled event with the best in fashion, food & dance!
