Department of Computer Science, IIICT has initiated the concept of “Learning with Peers” under Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (ACSIT), DCS, IIICT.

With this idea we consider the belief that “To Teach is to Learn Twice”. Peer learning is mutually beneficial and involves the sharing of knowledge, ideas and experience between the participants. It is a way of moving beyond independent to interdependent and mutual learning. The first learning session under this series is scheduled on January 31, 2022 at 2:30 PM.

Topic for the talk was GIT X GITHub and student contributors for the same were Harshit Shah and Dev Adnani from B.Sc (CA & IT), Sem VI.

Expert talk was started with opening remarks given by Dr. Ankur Saxena Dean ICT& Director IIICT, Indus University. Sir has appreciated the efforts of faculties and students for this initiation. He encouraged students to participate.

Harshit Shah and Dev Adnani have started the session with introduction and differentiation of Git and GitHub. They also shared keywords and jargons related to that and how Git and GitHub is used by industry people for contribution, team management and version control. With a hands on session they also explained about creating profile, cloning repositories, fork, pull and push requests. Also how you create branches for different versions was also explained. They have also explained about public and private repositories and about contributions to other repositories.

The session was witnessed by 60+ participants. It was a very helpful and interactive session. Faculty coordinators have expressed a thank you note for the session at the end.
