Interior Design

Interior Design is primarily concerned with function, style, practicality of space, form, personality and usability. The course aims at developing the technical knowledge know and creative skills required to design and manufacture furniture for retail and commercial purpose. The curriculum encompasses your drawing skills, design understanding, theory and history of furniture design, material exploration, ergonomics, understanding aesthetics & human interactions and design development. The students will be spending much time in the workshops, experimenting with techniques and materials, building prototypes and testing pieces.

Product Design

Product Design is primarily concerned with form, function and usability of a product. The course aims at developing the technical and artistic skills required to design products that enhances the socio-ecological, physical and economic environment of the Society. The curriculum is highly project driven as it puts the students in a studio environment working on collaborative and individual projects. In this major, you address contemporary realities including sustainability and technological change while exploring materials, fabrication, aesthetics, and social engagement in both local and global contexts.

Product Design is the process of designing and manufacturing from devices like mobile phones & laptops, electrical appliances like steam iron & washing machine, kitchen appliances like dishwasher, daily utensils, furniture to passenger & commercial automobiles. It will allow a student to understand the usability, ergonomics, and aesthetics of products and therefore work upon to improve the design, function, manufacturing, and marketing of their designs. Owing to the user-centric approach to things today, the role of industrial designers has become more significant, as they are deeply oriented towards the user and the value of the experience they bring to them. Therefore, contemporary industrial designers participate in all phases surrounding a product; from ideation, research, design, development to iteration.
