Communication & Research Skills Workshop held PhD Research Scholars  

A Workshop on Communication and Research Skills was held for Research scholars of the PhD programme of Indus University on 7th and 8th November 2014. On 7th Nov’14 as a part of the curriculum, Communication Skills workshop was held which focused on various topics to enhance students’ preparation and presentation of their research work. Various topics like Technical Writing, Logical Flow in the work, Literature Review, Importance of Reference Writing etc were taken up with dexterity and expertise by the eminent speakers of different sessions. All the research scholars of the second batch attended the workshop. The speakers were from myriad areas of research and work experiences.

The opening session was taken by Dr. Pradeep Mallick, Resident Editor, Ahmedabad Mirror. He dwelled on the topic of Technical Communications and the basics of communicating and presenting one`s work. Dr. Arbind Sinha, Former Director MICA took two hour session focusing on writing of good literature review and its importance in framing the concept and construct of a good research. The concluding session of the day by Dr. Neera Singh,Faculty Indus University was deliberations on Oral Presentation and the APA & MLA format of writing research papers.

Day-2 of the workshop was dedicated to learning of Research Methodology. Its objective was enhancing the research acumen of the scholars which will help them in building their research design. The opening session by Dr. Samir Gopalan, Faculty, Indus University reflected on research design and research tools. Dr. Ramakant Prusty.

Director, KS University an eminent scholar in Research took up the topic of Hypothesis Framing and Testing & using of statistical tool in research. The afternoon session was conducted by the official from Capitaline Database for Data Assimilation & Analysis. This session elaborated on the Capitaline database and the e-resource available with Indus. This was a whole hearted attempt to make the students realize about the research perspective of their work. The entire program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. S.B Sharma Dean Research, Indus University and Dr. Ashish Joshi OSD PhD Program.
